Prepvolleyball Posting

Kentucky’s Bluegrass Area Volleyball Academy (BAVA) 15-1 is off to a nice start, compiling a 17-6 match record so far, which includes a second place finish to SIVC at the BAVA Bash last weekend. Three of the players, Abi Wheeler and Robyn Hench of Tates Creek and Brianna Hill of Dunbar, were varsity starters as freshman last fall. Louisville and Northern Kentucky clubs get the lion’s share of publicity on this site and rightly so given the success they’ve experienced. But keep your eyes out for this team. It may be the one to put Lexington volleyball on the map!

Defensive Dandies, Part I: Gym Dandies

Written by John Tawa

If they can dig it up, they're on this list (provided the coach nominated them, of course).

This is Part I of our Defensive Dandies recognition, which we call "Gym Dandies." The players on this list are full time back row players, both high school and club, who work their butts off during practice and play to help the team at all costs. HONORABLE MENTION

Hannah Wheeler, Sr., Tates Creek (Lexington Kentucky) – Wheeler rewrote the Tates Creek record book for digs in a career. While she played all the way around at times in 2006, she has been a high school libero most of her career. First Team All City and a member of the All District team in 2006, Wheeler will play for Asbury College in the fall, where she should be an immediate impact player.
