2nd Annual Golf Scramble

The Tates Creek High School Volleyball Booster Club will be conducting their second annual Golf Scramble this fall at High Point Golf Course. 100% of the proceeds from the golf scramble will benefit the Tates Creek High School girl’s volleyball team. As part of this fund-raising event, we are asking local businesses to sponsor a hole or donate a prize.

The Booster Club is a non-profit 501-c3 organization and any donations will be tax deductible. You may sponsor a hole for $50. If you sponsor a hole, we will make a nice 11” X 17” sign advertising your company and place it on the tee box of the hole that you sponsor. If you donate a prize, we will provide a handout to all participants acknowledging your generous contribution.

If you have any questions regarding the golf scramble, please contact Rob Hench via email at thehenches@alltel.net or via telephone at 859-273-0534. Any support that you could provide will be greatly appreciated.

Here are the forms that you can use for players and sponsors:

District Showdown will be exciting

One thing is certain, two strong teams will win the showdown that occurs on Tuesday. Lafayette, Dunbar, Henry Clay and Tates Creek are all playing well and Henry Clay is at the top as reported by the Herald Leader on Monday:

It took more than 15 years, but Henry Clay was able to do something no other Lexington school has been able to do: win the Jefferson County Invitational volleyball tournament in Louisville.

The No. 11 Devils dropped ninth-ranked Ryle 25-21, 25-22 to win the event. Henry Clay also knocked off ranked teams No. 15 Butler and No. 19 Ballard to win the title.

"It was a great showing for Lexington," Devils Coach Dale Grupe said. "It was fun because all of the Lexington teams were cheering each other on."

Four teams from the same district: No. 14 Paul Dunbar, No. 17 Lafayette, No. 20 Tates Creek and Henry Clay went 16-4 for the weekend. Dunbar finished the tournament in third place. Tates Creek won the silver division and Woodford County took home the bronze title.

Senior Night

The regular season is so short and so are high school careers. Tates Creek started the season with Abi and Robyn backing up to get an out of bounds serve, colliding, tripping over the back line, and completing synchronized back rolls. The regular season ended by celebrating the careers of the seniors with a win that was punctuated with a serve and a dig from Amber in the back row.
